Decorating Overload!

Hello!  Summer time is in full swing for me.  Having fun with friends, spending time with family, and oh yeah decorating my new classroom! My amazing Mom came into town to help me do a few things around my classroom.  We went to the Parent Teacher Store and picked out brightly colored paper for my bulletin boards.  Today we went out to school and put up the paper and my curtains.  Here are a few pictures.
My back bulletin boards.  We also put up a new alphabet since the one in my new room was print. The pink board is going to be Author Study and novel study related.

The front of my room.  I am going make this my math wall and put my hundreds chart and Mountain Math up there.  I am also going to put number number line up there.

My mom hanging my curtains.
These are my new AMSTI math kits!!

It was like Christmas morning.

Math related literature!

How handy is this? This box came with dividers.

I am still reading Guided Math, Daily 5, and about to start the CAFE book.  Make sure you check out these great book studies that are going on right now.   I am also redecorating my bedroom.  Correction, decorating it.  I moved into my apartment four years ago and wanted to buy an iron bed and do my bedroom.  Then I decided to focus on my living room.  Then I got talked into doing my dining room (which I have used all of two times).  SO now I am finally, finally, finally doing my bedroom.  I might post some before and after pictures even though this is just a teaching blog.  Anybody have any great painting tips for me?

  2. Spend the money the first time. Cheap paints is what it is.... cheap! Lastly, don't give up! I always want to stop when I start painting, but I always keep the outcome in the back of my mind. Changing a room's paint color can totally change the overall feel of a room!

  5. I love the colors in your classroom! It looks like it will be a fun place to learn! I hope that you enjoy 3rd grade as much as I do, at will take an adjustment but it really is a great grade. As for your house decorating do what you want you can (almost) always paint over something that isn't exactly what you pictured. Too many times I have been talked out of the color I really wanted be well meaning people. I hope you enjoy the rest of your decorating!!!

  7. Your classroom is looking great. I love the bright pink paper next to your board. It is so bright and cheery. I'm also completely jealous of your math kits...wow! It is all so organized and everything is right there. Everything at my school is such a hodge-podge and all shoved in a very unorganized "math cabinet". Good luck with your bedroom. You will feel so great when it is all finished. I just (literally, two days ago) painted my study and I love being in there now. It is so fresh and fun. One piece of advice - buy lots of paint samples because it is hard to find the right color. I had to keep going back to the store to get more samples. I wished I had just bought all five from the beginning. Also, don't skimp on brushes. The good brushes make a difference and lead to less paint splatter. Oh yes, and get the froggy green tape. It is a bit more than regular blue painters tape, but worth it!

Enjoy the decorating process! I can't wait to see pics!
